The Best Short Stories of J.G. Ballard-- i think the last one in this collection is from 1968, slightly before all the car crash s&m nonsense. some of
these, like "The Terminal Beach," i think are surrealist masterpieces.
The Kindness of Women, J.G. Ballard-- so, after reading some of his novels, i had to find out what makes this guy tick... now i have some idea of what he wants his readers to think makes him tick.... when he's not describing fecal matter and shattered glass in minute poetic detail or writing sex scenes that would make the marquis de sade blush, he can be a very fine writer. i wish i'd known about him when i was 16. From Dark Wood to White Rose-- a book about symbolism in The Divine Comedy The Children of Odin-- more or less a retelling of Norse myths for children. Sigmund the Dragon-Slayer and all that. |

Some fantastic articles from Henry Makow.
I know a lot of this stuff anyway, but some of the newer articles are quite literally mindblowing and make total sense. If you sit back and think of how long society has been manipulated and in so many different ways. It is actually quite upsetting.

A book about the Punic Wars I've been telling myself I need to read since high school. Now that the cool weather is here there's a possibility I can
slog through it....
